We support the Giro d’Italia of Pediatric Palliative Care
In Italy, approximately 30,000 children and adolescents live with incurable conditions that require Pediatric Palliative Care (PPC), yet only a portion of them have access to specialized services.
Pediatric Palliative Care is a fundamental approach to improving the quality of life of children and their families: it is not limited to end-of-life care, but supports the entire care pathway from diagnosis onward, providing medical, psychological, and social support.
However, the availability of these services across the country remains uneven and often insufficient, forcing many families to undertake complex and burdensome journeys, with significant emotional and financial consequences.
To help bridge this gap and raise awareness, we support the Giro d’Italia of Pediatric Palliative Care, an initiative organized by Fondazione Maruzza Lefebvre D’Ovidio ETS, which in 2026 will take place from May 16 to June 14 across the country.
For over 25 years, the Foundation has been committed to promoting the culture of pediatric palliative care in Italy and worldwide, through training, awareness-raising, and advocacy activities. It also serves as a national reference point for the development of care models and for engaging institutions, healthcare professionals, and the public.
The project unfolds through cultural, sports, and informational events held nationwide, with the aim of spreading accurate knowledge about Pediatric Palliative Care, overcoming stereotypes, and fostering the development of increasingly accessible and effective services.
